Our Mission

The mission of the Wyoming Breast Cancer Initiative (WBCI) is to increase breast cancer awareness and prevention across Wyoming. Since 2016, the WBCI has raised funds through various volunteer-led events throughout the state that are then granted into community breast cancer organizations and into a Wyoming Department of Health partnership program to fund screening and diagnostic breast cancer detection. Funds raised in Wyoming stay in Wyoming.
 
Job Title:       Executive Director 
Position:       Full-time, at-will, exempt
Location:       Home based – Cheyenne, Laramie or Casper preferred but other Wyoming locations considered
 
The Wyoming Breast Cancer Initiative is searching for an Executive Director (ED) with skills, energy, initiative, and passion to lead the nonprofit in fulfilling its mission.

The ED will work with the Board, staff, and stakeholders to implement the strategic plan, goals, and policies of WBCI. The ED will be integral to all aspects of events, programs, and growth. The ED will manage the staff resources of WBCI and its day-to-day and long-term operations. The ED will be the “face” and “voice” of the organization. This individual is the key figure for communication within and outside of the organization.
 
The ED will create and implement annual fundraising and long-term development programs. WBCI’s ED is responsible for developing and growing the organization by maximizing resources and overseeing fundraising initiatives. The ED will work with the Board of Directors to implement long-range goals, build, and strengthen relationships with stakeholders and enhance WBCI’s statewide presence. The ideal candidate will be motivated, a self-starter and mission driven.
 
The Executive Director will be required to:

  • Manage and implement a working knowledge of the organization’s values, mission, and vision.
  • Know and ensure compliance with all state and federal non-profit guidelines and regulations.
  • Develop or maintain the organization's policies, procedures, or other guidance documentation.
  • Build and maintain collaborative and community-focused relationships with multiple statewide stakeholders and volunteers. This will require travel and promotion statewide.
  • Develop and oversee sponsor/donor campaigns and relationships. Ensure timely donor correspondence, sponsor, and donor receipts in conjunction with WBCI Treasurer. 
  • Manage employees including but not limited to;
    • familiarity with wage/hour law and employment regulations,
    • evaluation, coaching and disciplinary actions,
    • delegation and prioritization of employee duties and responsibilities,
    • vision to appropriately utilize and grow staff to meet the organization’s mission.
  • Oversee the organization of and participate in WBCI events. Coordinate staff participation in WBCI events.
  • Oversee the Communication Coordinator to promote all WBCI related sponsor events including social media, website, e-blasts, and relevant forms of statewide media.
  • Oversee the Grants Coordinator to grow all aspects of incoming and outgoing grants.
  • Oversee the Finance Coordinator to meet organizational, state, or federal requirements. Coordinate preparation of updated financial reports needed for Board review.
  • Lead the annual strategic planning process and regular Board meetings, including preparation of agendas and supportive documentation.
  • Provide ED progress reports to the Board; meet as needed individually with Board members to ensure organization alignment.

  • Provides leadership and direction for the WBCI, including staff oversight and volunteer encouragement.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; required to build a supportive and collegial environment.
  • Develop and maintain Board relationships; serve as ex-officio of each sub-committee.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including public speaking.
  • Develop key relationships with community partners and stakeholders to both promote WBCI’s services but also secure sponsors and donors.
  • Use of excellent judgment, discretion, honesty, and integrity.
  • Highly dependable, ability to work independently and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritize to meet multiple deadlines.
  • Supervisory experience to hire, develop, mentor, and retain high performing personnel.
  • Successful experience planning events
  • Successful fundraising experience with a strong knowledge of revenue strategy, including sponsor/donor relations and retention.
  • Ability to travel throughout the state as needed.
  • Non-profit leadership experience including grant writing and oversight desired, but not required.
  • Experience (or knowledge of) Google Drive, Google Voice, WordPress and Bloomerang desired.
 
Reporting Relationships
Reports to: Board of Directors
Supervises: WBCI staff
 
Salary and Benefits
Salary:  $60,000 - $67,000/yr. (dependent on qualifications)
Health insurance stipend: Health insurance benefits are offered
Retirement: match 3% into an employee designated Simple IRA
Paid time off: Ten (10) hours of Personal Time Off (PTO) are accrued beginning the first month hired, plus eleven (11) National Federal Holidays
 
The Executive Director position is full-time, with home-based flexibility. Expect 40 hours per week with additional time during July, August, and October, plus some nights and weekend hours are required. WBCI will provide computer, marketing programs, and required office supplies. Mileage paid at IRS rate outside home base. Mutual performance review with the Board after six months and annual evaluation thereafter.
